Salopian Brewery Vertigo (7.2% ABV)

salopian vertigo

Salopian brewery make one of my favourite beers in Darwin’s Origin so when they got in touch and asked if I fancied trying their 7.2%  Vertigo there was no way I was going to decline. I didn’t know much about the beer so was a bit surprised when it poured as dark as it did [...]

Badger wandering woodwose

Every now and then something unexpectedly arrives in, more often than not it’s a bill of some kind, fortuatnely this time it was something a lot more exciting…..an 8% beer from Badger, yes that’s an 8% beer from Badger, it’s not every day they release one of those. The name comes from a local legend [...]

Adnams Ghost Ship in a Can

I’ve tried Adnams Ghost Ship on a few different occasions and really enjoyed but never thought it was an outstanding beer, that was until I cracked open the canned version. The first thing that hit me was the aroma, It smelled super fresh and packed full of hops, load of pithy lime and lemon, it [...]

Sharp’s Cornish Pilsner

Sharp's Cornish Pilsner

Sharp’s Brewery recently launched Cornish Pilsner, in collaboration with the Eden Project, for me It had a lot to live up to as I was a huge fan of Monsieur Rock that they brewed a while back and is now no longer available. For the Pilsner Head brewer  Stuart Howe used whole Saaz hops and [...]

Hardknott Rhetoric

Last week Hardknott ran an #OpenTheRhetoric event on twitter where the idea was those with a bottle of their latest beer would open it then  discuss it via twitter. I was lucky enough to have a bottle so decided to try and pair it with some food and make a proper event of it. I [...]

eden-ale-gif-set

Recently I received an email asking if I’d like to try the new Eden project fathers day gift set which comprised of a lovely little jute bag,  2 bottles of Eden Ale and a huge kilner jar of Eden Ale and Walnut chutney, as it happened we were in Cornwall and planning to call in at the Eden Project [...]

Innis And Gunn Irish Whiskey Cask Stout

Just before St Patricks Day this bottle arrived wrapped in a Jiffy bag, quite how it survived the post I’m not entirely sure but it did and a few days later it ended up in my glass. As far as I’m aware it’s the first time the Innis & Gunn have brewed a stout and [...]

black sheep imperial russian stout

A few months ago well known Yorkshire Brewery, Black Sheep did something a little bit different. Known for producing a solid range of tasty cask and bottled beer they decided to brew a beer they’d not tried before…an Imperial Russian Stout, weighing in at 8.5% ABV,  what’s more they then sent the beer on a [...]

Magic Rock Human Cannonball and Blue Cheese and Mango Chutney Tart

Magic Rock Human Cannonball

It seems wrong that I’ve not written about Magic Rock beers on here before, especially as I’ve supped an awful lot of them from bottle, cask and even keg. So I thought it was about time I broke the duck, jumped on the bandwagon and wrote a little bit about them. Based in Huddersfield, Magic [...]

Innis & Gunn Limited Edition Highland Cask (7.1%)

Posted on October 25, 2011 by andyMogg in Beer Reviews, Innis and Gunn 2 Comments

Just like with the excellent Salopian Oracle, I’ve been trying to catch up on some of the beers I’ve been sent lately, the latest of which is from Innis & Gunn. Innis & Gunn are one of those breweries that divides opinion, some love their beers, others can’t stand them, for me it’s probably the [...]

Marquee hire

Beer has been one of the oldest drinks we know and comes with so many different tastes and types unlike any other beverage, you can drink a beer with your friends or alone. When you organise a party it is important that you choose the right beers to be served for your guests, as it can set a mood but sometimes when you can go all out you can serve a variety of beers in kegs but it might be handy to have a marquee. There are several companies that specialize in Marquee hire, this sets the mood and everyone can enjoy their glass of beer in a great atmosphere. Bottoms up!
