Darwin’s Origin (Salopian Brewery 4.3%)

Posted on May 19, 2011 by andyMogg in Beer Reviews, Salopian Brewery 2 Comments

I’ll be honest, I got sent a few bottles of Darwin’s Origin a while back and they’ve all long since been drank and this has been sat here half started and full of short hand so I thought it was about time I finished it off. “Darwin’s Origin is the brainchild of Debbie at Salopian [...]

FABPOW – Bacon, Brie and Cranberry Stottie With Bitter

Posted on June 16, 2010 by andyMogg in Beer News, Beer Reviews, Beer Stuff, Hadrian and Border, Northumberland Brewery 5 Comments

I know Mark does FABPOW’s quite a lot and they are great, I thought I would have a punt at it this week after first coming across this pairing when camping in Northumberland a few weeks ago. We were on Holy Island and some how manged to choose a day to visit when most of [...]

Beer Swap Test Beer #2: Hook Norton Haymaker (5%)

Posted on December 3, 2009 by andyMogg in Beer Reviews, Beer Stuff, Beer Swap, Hook Norton No Comments

Hook Norton Haymaker was another beer that was sent to me by @realalereviews as part of the  Beer Swap test parcel, It had a lot to live up to as it followed the other Hook Norton beer he sent (Hooky Gold). The first thing that makes this stand out is the label, I love it, [...]

More T.E.A Vicar? (Hogs Back T.E.A 4.2%)

Posted on October 4, 2009 by andyMogg in Beer Reviews, Breweries & Pubs, Hogs Back 1 Comment

Traditional English Ale or T.E.A for short, was a beer I had wanted to try for a while, so when I got my hands on a bottle in one of Hogs Back’s nice little gift sets, I was quite excited to try it, unfortunately i hadn’t had time to write up the review until now. T.E.A is [...]

Crown Brewery – Wheetie-bits (4.4%)

Posted on September 18, 2009 by andyMogg in Beer Reviews, Breweries & Pubs, Crown Brewery 4 Comments

This was another of the beers that @crownbrewerstu sent me.  After trying the Ring of Fire and Unpronounceable I.P.A I was really looking forward to this one, mainly because the other two had really surprised me and i thoroughly enjoyed them. The beer opened with a real fizz and started to foam out of the [...]

Bowland Headless Peg (4.5%)

Posted on September 5, 2009 by andyMogg in Beer Reviews, Bowland, Breweries & Pubs 1 Comment

I recently acquired this beer from my dad, who was passing the Hambleton Brewery, I knew they bottled ales for other breweries after a recent tour there, however I didn’t realise they also sold them from their shop. As neither my dad or myself had heard of Bowland before we thought we would try a [...]

Adnams Gun Hill Bitter (4.0%)

Posted on August 23, 2009 by andyMogg in Adnams, Beer Reviews, Breweries & Pubs 2 Comments

There seems to be few new Adnams beers making it into the shops lately, and this is no bad thing as they are generally pretty excellent and tasty session beers. Again it comes in their new eco friendly brown bottle and a % of the profits of the beer go to support the prostate cancer [...]

Adnams lighthouse (3.4%)

Posted on August 19, 2009 by andyMogg in Adnams, Beer Reviews, Breweries & Pubs 6 Comments

I picked up a couple of Adnams Ales in Tesco a few weeks ago, one of which was Lighthouse, It’s quite a simple beer and uncomplicated beer, so this “review” is short and sweet. The bottle said it was developed from championship beers and was also a “charity” beer and that Adnams would donate 10p [...]

Marquee hire

Beer has been one of the oldest drinks we know and comes with so many different tastes and types unlike any other beverage, you can drink a beer with your friends or alone. When you organise a party it is important that you choose the right beers to be served for your guests, as it can set a mood but sometimes when you can go all out you can serve a variety of beers in kegs but it might be handy to have a marquee. There are several companies that specialize in Marquee hire, this sets the mood and everyone can enjoy their glass of beer in a great atmosphere. Bottoms up!
