  • Congratulations to Nick and all @ Hambleton Ales.

Just wanted to say a quick congratulations to Nick and his team @ Hambleton Ales, on winning the Sainsbury Beer Competition 2009.

It’s nice to see a quality local ale producer doing well.

More info can be found on on the SIBA website here

I also want to say congratulations to Brewdog for their cunning plan to boost their chances of winning, more info on that can be found here.

I really enjoyed Taylors Tipple, a worthy winner. I visited the brewery while doing a brewing course in York and it’s very impressive and the beers fresh from the conditioning room were outstanding. Nick’s passion really shines through and he and the head brewer Peter are a great double act and were very generous with their time. I hope my local Sainsbury’s in London will be stocking the winning beer and perhaps Stallion too.

Hi Andy, glad to hear you enjoyed their beers, im a big fan of theirs (see my brewery tour report on here)

They don’t make blow your socks off, mega hoppy or mega hoppy beers but they make some of the best and most drinkable cask and bottled ale (In my opinion) in the country.

If you ever get chance to try black lightning or nightmare they are both cracking dark ales/stouts with bags of flavour.
