  • Dark Star Heads to Toon October 2011

Just received the following press release, it sounds quite interesting as we don’t see enough Dark Star beers up here.

Tilleys Bar, at 105 Westgate Road in Newcastle, is part of The Head Of Steam group of renowned pubs. During October, it is going to have a life-changing experience; it will, effectively, become a Dark Star Brewery pub, as it will be offering eighteen different Dark Star real ales during the month. “Dark Star Brewery, of Horsham in deepest West Sussex, produces ales that are of cult status in Britain at present and we have managed to procure casks of everything they will be brewing at the time” said Graham Frost, Manager of Tilleys Bar”. We thought about putting banners up, effectively changing the name, for the month, but thought we might run into planning issues” he said.

Dark Star ales will dominate the handpumps during October and three casks will also be set up to dispense by gravity, straight from the tap, as well. Regular best-selling ales from Wylam and Harviestoun breweries will still be available.

Tilleys Bar will also be serving home-made food, cooked onsite, with real proper chips only £1 after 5pm.

The poster for the event (attached) can be used by customers to tick off the ales.

“You never know” said Graham Frost; “if the Dark Star ales go as well as we think they will, we may just keep a vast, changing range of Dark Star ales on sale indefinitely”.
