Homebrew – AG#3 Rudi Good

Posted on May 8, 2013 by andyMogg in Beer Stuff, Home Brew Beer 2 Comments
After a week in the glass

I’m finishing writing this while AG#4 cools which may be a bit alte but I’ve been so busy and really not had the motivation to blog. Ag#3 was an attempt to improve on my last two pale ales and uses some Dr Rudi hops which I liberated from Truefitt brewery when I helped brew the [...]

Bruges – A quick run down

Posted on April 7, 2013 by andyMogg in Beer Stuff 12 Comments
Room beer..

Over the last few weeks I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve been asked which pubs and bars we visited while we visited Bruges just before Christmas so to save me having to email/text/Facebook it every time I thought I’d put a quick run down on here, It’s by no means the definitive [...]

Homebrew – AG#2 Hop for the Best

Posted on March 26, 2013 by andyMogg in Beer Stuff, Home Brew Beer No Comments
AG: V2 in the glass

Homebrew AG#2 was brewed what seems like ages ago and has since been supped and shared, I’ve even brewed AG#3 which has been bottled and is currently conditioning somewhere warm. AG#2 was another pale ale for which I was aiming for 6% ABV and planned to use hops from New Zealand, as with AG#1 it [...]

Carbonnades Flamandes with Stoemp (Flemish Beef and Beer Stew with mash)

Carbonnade flamenade

I’ve made this a couple of times now and served it with both Stoemp and skinny fries (the photo is of the skinny fries and salad version), it’s best done in the slow cooker but if you don’t have one you can do it one the stove or in the oven. The stoemp can be [...]

Slow Cooked Pork in Kriek Beer and sour cherries

Posted on January 10, 2013 by andyMogg in Food and Recipes 2 Comments
Juicy, fruity and delicious

On our recent trip to Belgium one of my favourite meals was pork ribs cooked in Kriek and served with a huge bowl of salty, crispy skinny fries and mayo, It was delicious so I’ve re created the flavours using pork shoulder and my slow cooker. It’s really easy and you can choose to leave [...]

schneider_weisse-bottle

Leigh from the Good Stuff asked me if I wanted to take part in his food and beer Christmas day post, I agreed and had intended to cook each of the dishes as a bit of a trial run but haven’t had the time so I’m just going to mention what I’m planning on having. [...]

mulled cider recipe

On Saturday after a day of drinking a whole load of different styles of beer, including IPA, Stout, Saison, Barley Wine and even a Cucumber beer, I was lured in by the smell of Chrismas wafting over the bar at Pivni inYork, the smell was mulled cider at £3.50 for a stemmed glass  it wasn’t [...]

Truefitt Trembler Brew Day

truefitt-trembler

When Matt from Truefitt brewing asked for people to go give him a hand brewing a special double india pale ale for his 50th brew there was no way I was going to miss it, even if I had drank far to much gin the night before. We arrived at the brewery just before 8am [...]

The Crafty Pint, Darlington

I’ll be honest there’s not many places round here to buy decent bottled beer, whether it be local or from further a field. There is the odd shop like Whistle Stop Wines in Saltburn and of course the supermarkets have the odd beer, even B&M gets the odd bottle of decent ale in now and [...]

Sharp’s Connoisseur Choice Competition Final

My final dish at Sharps Connoisseur Cook off

A couple of weeks ago I received an email asking if I was available to take part in the Sharp’s connoisseur choice cook off final, apparently the recipe I’d submitted on Sharp’s Facebook pagehad been chosen by 2 michelin star chef Nathan Outlaw to represent him in the final. It seemed like far too good of an [...]

Marquee hire

Beer has been one of the oldest drinks we know and comes with so many different tastes and types unlike any other beverage, you can drink a beer with your friends or alone. When you organise a party it is important that you choose the right beers to be served for your guests, as it can set a mood but sometimes when you can go all out you can serve a variety of beers in kegs but it might be handy to have a marquee. There are several companies that specialize in Marquee hire, this sets the mood and everyone can enjoy their glass of beer in a great atmosphere. Bottoms up!
